Week in Luxury Launches: At the Pinnacle
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L5-B van
Gearing up to hit the racetrack in collaboration with Reiter Engineering is Lamborghini’s new Gallardo GT3 FL2. Set to put the in-house racing team Lamborghini Squadra Corse back on the map, the Gallardo GT3 FL2 will be competing in multiple competitive races like the Italian GT3 championships, and also many others in the US.
Treading at a smoother and perhaps more luxurious pace is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter L5-B van. Priced at $292k, this pimped out set of wheels has been given a Lexani makeover and now boasts of enviable customisations like high-tech amenities (think 46” Samsung LED TV, iPad docking station, Bose home theater, Alpine audio), ambient lighting, leather seats, a bar set up, gold plated accents… the works. Lexani leaves room for further customisation by offering personalised embroidered headrest logos, a Lexani platinum grille package and a perimeter armour.
Piaget's Limelight Gala collection
All that glitters is not just gold…
…it’s diamonds! Piaget pulls a winner with its latest Limelight Gala collection. Sporting a bezel set with a row of progressively sized brilliant-cut diamonds, the collection comprises of three versions of the timepiece—an 18K white gold watch with a black satin strap, an 18K pink gold watch with a white satin strap, and our favourite for obvious reasons, an 18k white gold watch with a dial paved with 228 brilliant-cut diamonds complemented by a bracelet paved with 451 brilliant-cut diamonds.
Flashing some more of the precious gems is De Watère’s newest champagne. While the bubbly is available in two fine blends—The Brut Blanc (a cuvée from 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay) and The Brut Rosé (made from 100% pinot noir), what qualifies this sparkler in the uber luxe range is the collector’s coin attached to the bottom of the bottle. With a one carat diamond encrusted on a 1 oz gold coin, this De Watère embossed drink is the perfect way to raise a toast.
Cheers to the Month of Love
Take or leave the De Watère champagne, because Galleries Lafayette in Paris has more jeweled tricks up its sleeve for Valentine’s Day. A collaboration with Swarovski has now given rise to an interesting pop up store on the third floor, right in front of the lingerie department. Up for grabs are Swarovski encrusted panties in elite brands like Aubade, Chantal Thomass, Simone Pérèle, Cosabella, La Perla, Triumph, Maison Lejaby, Etam and Lise Charmel.
Lanvin's Happy Heart Bag and Arpeggio Minaudiere
Want to wear your jewels more modestly? Do the conventional thing and splurge on heart shaped trinkets (no they are not cheesy… well at least not at this time of the year). Van Cleef & Arpels uses pink gold, carnelian and brilliant cut diamonds to create the Sweet Alhambra collection, which is a line of a pendant, bracelet, earrings and a ring.
You could also sport the look of love with Lanvin’s quirky handbags that make a style statement, and would work just as well all year round. Our personal favourites would be the gold lame Happy Heart Bag from the Capsule collection, or you could opt for a more versatile arm candy like the Arpeggio Minaudiere with snake chain wrist-straps.
