Gucci Brings its Vintage Flora World Collection to India
To celebrate the opening of its fifth store in India, Gucci is brining archival pieces from its 'Flora World' collection to its newest store in Gurgaon.
As the story goes, the classic Gucci floral print was developed in 1966, after Grace Kelly visited the Via Monte Napoleone store to see Rodolfo Gucci's actress wife Alessandra. Since Rodolfo didn't have a flower motif scarf to gift Kelly, he commissioned his friend and artist Vittorio Accornero to produce one. Accornero in turn came up with a fabulous design featuring 43 varieties of flowers & plants and nine kinds of insects, which was quickly christened Flora. The motif has inspired several successive Gucci collection, including the Cruise 2013 line.
Both the archival collection, and the Flora-inspired Cruise 2013 collection, can be checked out at Gucci's new store at the Oberoi Gurgaon.
The Flora World Collection exhibition will be on display from November 24- December 24.
