At a recently held sale, the New York department of Christie’s auction house sold a rare, antique lamp for a whopping $2.8 million. The lamp in question—the Pink Lotus—was manufactured by New York’s Tiffany Studios in 1906. It is made using the copper foil technique a.k.a. Tiffany stained-glass technique, a method where individual pieces of glass are edged with copper foil and soldered together. The lamp's mosaic pattern has been put together using 2,000 individual handcrafted pieces of glass.
