Auction Alert: Rare Indian Photos on Sale at Bonhams

Bonham's annual Travel and Photography sale, which is on today at the auction house's Knightbridge saleroom, includes a great selection of Indian photographs.
The India & Beyond lots include scarce early views of India, both as loose photographs and as album, shot by early Indian photographers Lala Deen Dayal, Felice Beato, Linnaeus Tripe and Samuel Bourne.
Princes and Chiefs of India
Auction highlights include a collection of portraits of Indian princely rulers, called Princes and Chiefs of India, 1903, with text by Jehangir Sorabjee (Rs 3,20,000 - Rs 5,20,000); an album of views in Hyderabad taken by Deen Dayal in 1889 (Rs 2,20,000 - Rs 3,10,000); an album of views from Lahore, Bombay and Darjeeling, from 1860 (Rs 1,70,000 - Rs 2,60,000) as well as Thomas and William Daniell aquatints, including views in Elephanta, Trichinopoly and Allahabad.
