Designer Micheal Kors Talks about His Tryst with Technology

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the camera and how it works in the world of fashion?
With the popularity of Instagram, there’s been this huge resurgence lately of film, and I love that. Using instant photography has always been such an integral part of my creative process, whether it’s snapping looks in preparation for the shows or taking behind-the scenes shots. Now we use the Instax Mini  everywhere—from the runway to the office to everyday life. It provides the perfect combination of timeless, tangible photos with fast-paced glamour and modern technology.

Will this collaboration change the way people perceive fashion inspired technology?
This is Fujifilm’s first fashion partnership which, I think, is really exciting. The two worlds, fashion and photography, have long inspired and connected with one another. It’s interesting to see that in this hugely digital world, people are still drawn to something that’s tactile, and the concept of instant photo.

What is your go-to gadget when it comes to designing or creating clothes?
I’m constantly taking pictures of the things I love—whether it’s the way a look is styled or a moment that inspires me—I always have a camera in hand.

Tell us about the Scout Bag.
Inspired by the history and cultural relevance of photography, the Scout camera bags evoke the feel of vintage pieces, but with modern sensibilities and fashion-forward details
