Week in Luxury Launches: A Week of Many Firsts
Goldmun's anniversary edition Apologue speakers
Raising the bar this week are Goldmund’s Apologue speakers from their anniversary edition. Limited-to-25 pieces, these babies are set to cost over half a million dollars ($60k to be precise). This move has the Swiss manufacturer of luxury speakers paying tribute to one of its hottest sellers—Goldmund’s Epilogue Speaker System. With technological advancements and a built-in amplification totaling 3,600W for a pair, we reckon the speakers would have to have set some sort of record price-wise.
Another title stealer this week is the Porsche 911 Carrera S. Beating 12 impressive contenders like the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, Ferrari FF and Audi S8, the Carrera comes out on top, achieving prime position and being declared as the 2013 Robb Report Car of the Year. Is this the most sought after car in the world… what do you think?
Bar-ring All That
For those that aim to make an experience out of a cocktail session, your investment number one this year would have to be the Duke Bar from Ralph Lauren. Part of the brand’s Spring 2013 collection, this penthouse rosewood chest is a contemporary take on a Victorian design. Spacious and well equipped, you can stock up your bar essentials over three drawers, a cabinet with six storage shelves, and an adjustable shelf (located behind the center doors).
The Mandarin Bar will be serving an afternoon tea platter inspired by Jimmy Choo Spring-Summer 2013
For the non-boozy society tea lovers, the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong is providing you with an experience of a different kind. Come April 2 (until May 2), the Mandarin Bar will be offering afternoon tea, Jimmy Choo style. From Cayla clutches to edible miniature high heels, you will be served fashion on a platter at just $35. Cup of tea anyone?
Well, who would’ve thought that luxury services for your pet would extend to the seven skies? The very elite Blue Star jets has just announced its latest venture—JetSetVets. An extension of their already existing luxury travel services for pets, this special jet will offer in-flight medical care and veterinary services, all courtesy the company’s collaboration with veterinarian Dr Cindy Bressler.
Figuratively also in flight, but with its four tires on the ground is Bentley’s 2014 Flying Spur. Touted to be the most powerful four-door by Bentley, this uber-luxurious sedan does a 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, all thanks to its 6.0 litre, twin turbo W12 engine.
Bentley launches luxury fragrances for men
Expending their horizons further, Bentley’s also launched its first collection of luxury fragrances for men. Featuring two lines, the first—Lalique for Bentley Crystal Edition—will be a limited edition series courtesy a tie-up with French crystal maker Lalique, and the second has perfumer Nathalie Lorson working on two variants—Bentley for Men and Bentley for Men Intense.
