Christie’s New York Sells a Rare Lamp for $2.8 Million

At a recently held sale, the New York department of Christie’s auction house sold a rare, antique lamp for a whopping $2.8 million. The lamp in question—the Pink Lotus—was manufactured by New York’s Tiffany Studios in 1906. It is made using the copper foil technique a.k.a. Tiffany stained-glass technique, a method where individual pieces of glass are edged with copper foil and soldered together. The lamp's mosaic pattern has been put together using 2,000 individual handcrafted pieces of glass.  Continue Reading »
